Mysore is a reputed place for handicrafts. The Emporium provides genuine handicrafts articles like ivory, sandalwood carving, silver and brassware etc.

Mysore Paintings
Traditional Mysore paintings with their bright vegetable-dye colors and lustrous gold leaves are a connoisseur’s delight. Various other paintings in water colors and oil paintings are also available. Most of these paintings are of Hindu gods and goddesses.

Mysore Silk
Bangalore and Mysore are reputed for their hand-woven shimmering silk garments and saris. Woven in a unique assortment of rich colors, produced in a multitude of varieties and interwoven with delicate gold threads, Karnataka’s legendary silk sarees have become an integral part of the Kannada culture and tradition. They come in a large variety each with a different design with the cost of saree depending upon the content of gold in it. The Government Silk Weaving Factory located at Jhansi Lakshmibai Road was set up by the Maharaja of Mysore in 1932 to obtain the finest hand-loomed silks for himself and his royal family. Today it is run by the Karnataka Silk Industries Corporation. Here one can buy sandalwood powder, sandalwood oil and scented incense sticks as well as silk sarees and garments straight off the looms. In addition, you can also watch the master craftsmen and weavers at work. The Factory has a show-room in its premises at the Manandavadi Road and also at the shopping area of K.R. Circle. Discounts on sarees are offered during festive seasons. The factory is opened from Monday to Saturday (except 2nd Saturday of the month) from 10.30am - 5 pm. Entry is free.
